Rift Raiders: bring the loot home, or risk another fight

Genre
Turn-based tactics · army stacks · roguelite expeditions
Status
Full Windows release planned for October 28, 2026; free Steam demo available

Winning a battle does not finish the raid. In Rift Raiders, you must decide whether your army can survive another stop or should leave with its spoils. Gooder Games combines turn-based army battles with branching expeditions and a kingdom rebuilt from the resources you bring back.

Build an army, then mind the grid

Choose a hero and starting army before entering a rift. Troops fight in stacks: several soldiers of one type occupy a single tile and act together. Moving, attacking and casting spells all feed into a visible turn order. Positioning matters because a ranged stack needs protection while the front line holds enemies away.

Connected red and yellow route nodes branch through a forest, with a portal, shop symbols, resource totals and the army panel visible.

Know when to leave

The route branches through battles, shops and story events. A tempting next stop offers more loot, but also another chance to lose the army carrying it. According to the current full-game description, extracting or defeating the boss secures your resources; defeat costs the loot you are still carrying. Resources banked on earlier expeditions remain safe.

That makes the decision after a fight as interesting as the fight itself: is the remaining army strong enough to justify another encounter? Players who enjoy tactical positioning and weighing risk against reward have two linked decisions to explore.

Make the next expedition stronger

Resources brought home pay for kingdom buildings that change later runs. There are building paths for five elemental factions, plus neutral upgrades. Their spells have different roles: Fire deals burning damage, Water changes turn order, Forest restrains and regrows, Light heals, and Dark uses blood as a cost. Your army composition and spell choices shape how you handle the next route.

Try the demo before launch

As checked on October 25, 2026, Steam offers a free, separate demo while the full Windows single-player game is still scheduled for October 28. Steam lists English and Simplified Chinese interface text and subtitles. The developer’s Steam disclosure says AI tools helped create sprites and some icons and assisted translation. The images here are pre-release press-kit captures; their exact build and demo coverage are unspecified.

What a Rift Raiders wiki could cover

A reference could compare troop roles, elemental spells and kingdom upgrade paths. The +1 interest vote below helps prioritize that possible coverage; it does not announce a wiki.
