A trip into the woods can end with timber for your cabin, ingredients for dinner and a new wildlife photograph. Under Canopies is Novemtails’ single-player, first-person forest game, published by Assemble Entertainment. You arrive as an explorer and gradually make a woodland refuge your home.

A home that grows with each outing
The publisher describes a daily loop of gathering materials, crafting tools and adding to your cabin. Plant a garden, cook with the harvest and use handmade furniture to give the rooms a little more character. Supplies brought back from the forest feed into the next improvement at home.
Animals give you reasons to slow down along the way. Care for chickens and sheep to collect eggs and wool for cooking or crafting. Photograph wildlife to fill an album, and gradually earn the trust of the creatures around you.
Keep yourself fed, watered and warm
The developer’s launch announcement lists hunger, thirst, energy and temperature to manage, alongside a firm promise: no combat, hunting, animal killing or player death. Players who enjoy decorating a base, tending crops and collecting wildlife pictures may find this gentler routine worth a look.
Start in Early Access
As of October 24, 2026, the Windows game is available to buy on Steam, with English and Simplified Chinese interface support. The story’s conclusion is unfinished, and the developer warns of bugs and incomplete features. The launch roadmap includes expanded photography, a companion and canoe, food preservation and an underground area with the narrative finale. These are plans that may change during development; version 1.0 is still ahead.
