Morgue workflow: autopsy, burial, and resurrection

Resurrection table

Decide what the body is for before you alter it: burial and resurrection favor different skull profiles. The steps below follow the game’s tutorial and interface text in a local extraction; they have not been checked in current-build gameplay.

  1. Put the body on the Autopsy Table.
  2. Learn the relevant autopsy skills before removing or replacing parts. The tutorial says each procedure uses skills, can fail, and may hide a part’s skull contribution until you learn the needed skill.
  3. Inspect what each part contributes before changing it. Extracting and replacing organs changes the body’s white and red skull totals.
  4. If you are checking pocket contents, use the body reference. Pocket extraction is available only when an item is present and the interface permits the operation; completion removes the selected body item and routes the output through drop handling. Player-worker and zombie-worker routes differ, so do not assume the item appears in the Keeper’s inventory or that every zombie can perform the operation. Blood and Fat operations likewise depend on the corresponding resource being present and the operation being permitted.

The tutorial recommends more white skulls and fewer red skulls for the graveyard. That is the burial goal; do not apply it automatically to a body intended for a zombie.

Goal Tutorial guidance Next step
Burial More white skulls and fewer red skulls Preserve or improve the graveyard profile, then follow the burial flow shown in-game.
Zombie More red skulls and fewer white skulls Check that vital organs remain, then prepare resurrection supplies.

For advanced organs, the tutorial calls for higher blue talent. It says to fill the progress bar enough to extract the heart and avoid the surgeon’s error. No exact talent threshold or timing is established in the cited text. The game data includes an Organ Restorer described as restoring surgery mistakes; check its item and recipe entries for the recorded requirements.

Autopsy results

Inspect the body and the procedure’s quality result after an organ insertion or extraction. When the operation reaches its result check with a quality below silver, a matching Surgeon’s Error is created inside the body. A hard craft failure returns before that result is processed, so this does not mean every failed operation creates an error. This source path does not establish operation success, yield, or elapsed time. See the body reference for recorded body contents and the Morgue reference for procedures.

The body reference lists extracted parts, skull values and pocket contents; the morgue reference covers the room and procedures. Values are not current-build gameplay observations. Pocket and Blood/Fat procedures do not establish a fixed amount or imply that every body carries those contents.

The tutorial gives this checklist:

  1. Place the corpse on the resurrection table.
  2. Have Reanimation Liquid, Faith, and a Zombie Collar ready.
  3. Use the Resurrection Device on the day of Envy, when the room is powered. The tutorial advises preparing everything in advance.
  4. Check the resulting zombie and the displayed requirements before attempting another body.

If the attempt is unavailable, check the specific warning shown by the game:

  • Missing vital organs: the interface says a body without vital organs cannot become a zombie.
  • No Reanimation Liquid or collar: supply the named requirement.
  • Collar grade too low: use the higher-quality collar requested for that corpse.
  • Zombie limit reached: use the PR Machine. The tutorial says Newspapers and Charged Hypno Devices placed on it every day of Gluttony increase the limit for that week. The building table records PR Machine I as one tier; do not assume its requirements apply unchanged to all tiers.
  • Room is not powered: wait for the day of Envy and prepare the ingredients before then.

These are checks named by the extracted tutorial and interface, not a complete diagnosis of every possible failure.

Corpse delivery

After the first conversation where Donkey says “I brought you dead body,” he drops the first corpse. Pick it up overhead and carry it to the Autopsy Table. Later deliveries are drawn from the current tier and depend on the current corpse count compared with Morgue quality, plus a random chance. The extracted fields do not establish a calendar, fixed delivery interval or exact probability.

Deliveries stop while the global delivery lock is active or the corpse-complaint quest is in progress. If a body is stored on the Morgue Pallet, use Take to retrieve it. When the pallet is full or its door is absent, the body is dropped into the world instead; pick it up and carry it to the table.

If delivery needs restoring, the quest journal directs you to Agatha at the Crossroads. A separate objective asks about getting better corpses. Follow the active journal objective; the extracted text does not establish a universal calendar time for either conversation. See the body reference for body profiles and the Morgue reference for the room and procedures.
