Demo saves and pre-order bonuses

Graveyard Keeper 2 cover art

The launch announcement says demo saves carry over into the full game and reminds pre-order buyers to try their bonuses. When either does not happen, tinyBuild support has steps. This guide summarizes them; none were tested for this wiki.

Demo saves should transfer on their own. If yours did not, tinyBuild’s Steam article gives this manual method for Windows:

  1. Open File Explorer and go to the demo’s save folder: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Lazy Bear Games\Graveyard Keeper 2 Demo. The article also says you can download your save files from Steam Cloud instead; it links to this Steam page.
  2. Copy your save files. They are the .info and .dat files.
  3. Paste them into the full game’s save folder: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Lazy Bear Games\Graveyard Keeper 2.

The article says to copy, so the demo files stay where they are. It does not say what happens if the full game’s folder already holds saves. Wiki suggestion, not from tinyBuild: if you have full-game progress you want to keep, back up that folder before pasting.

For demo-save progress that did not unlock Steam achievements, see Launch issues.

The developers’ announcements describe the pre-order bonuses as a Sauna building and an exclusive outfit. The outfit depends on the platform you pre-ordered on. The game’s own bonus window lists them as an exclusive Sauna building and a special costume. tinyBuild says the content was only available to players who pre-ordered through official storefronts before launch, and that it cannot grant it manually on request.

  • Steam: the September 22 hotfix note says it fixed an issue that, in some cases, kept pre-order content from appearing in existing saves. tinyBuild’s article says a hotfix on Steam handles this automatically.
  • Consoles: tinyBuild says the pre-order DLC may not install automatically when you first load a transferred save, which it calls common on PlayStation. Make sure the DLC is downloaded and installed, then re-import your demo save into the full game and launch it again. When the article was checked, a console patch was still in progress.

The article gives three in-game steps:

  1. Unlock the “Suit Up!” technology.
  2. Build a Dresser inside your home.
  3. Interact with the Dresser to change your clothes.

The game’s data fills in the first step. “Suit Up!” is in the Building tab of the Tech Tree and costs 15 red tech points. It requires Woodworking I (10 red tech points), which in turn requires The Concept of Wood (2 red and 2 green). Unlocking it makes available the building the game calls “Dresser with mirror”, and the game’s own pre-order text says the special costume is in the Dresser in your house. The technologies table has the full chain. The article does not give the Dresser’s materials or what the outfit does, and neither has been extracted yet.

tinyBuild’s article gives its location: to the left of your home, across the bridge. The game’s own bonus window agrees that it is just over the bridge. The announcements describe the sauna only as a place to unwind and lift your spirits; none states an in-game effect.
