Town combat: squad commands and defense

Squad flag

The game tutorial gives two concrete command rules: carry a squad’s banner to command it, and use defensive structures and barracks troops as defenses. The developers describe scheduled street battles, but the release build’s schedule and tactics have not been checked here.

  1. Pick up and carry that squad’s banner.
  2. Lead the squad toward the fight, or leave it to defend a position.

Those are the two behaviors stated by the tutorial. It does not explain command range, squad size, banner pickup controls, or how a squad chooses targets. Treat its directions as control basics, not a tested formation guide.

The tutorial says defenses come from defensive structures and troops from the barracks. Before a fight, inspect the available defensive structures and troop roster in your game. The battle reference lists base materials for structures prepared from a constructed Military Base; battlefield placement uses a prepared entry separately, so keep preparation costs and later placement distinct. The data and tutorial do not establish a universal minimum force or best arrangement.

The developers describe Town Square battles with waves approaching from multiple directions. Other street fights may involve advancing on several fronts and capturing control points, with objectives that vary by encounter. Barricades and towers are described as ways to hold approaches; archers, spiked barricades, and combat potions are mentioned as possible approaches, not as a verified winning setup.

The announcement assigns battles to a designated weekday and says the sewers are open six days each week. Confirm the current encounter’s day, objective, and available actions in-game before planning around a schedule. The exact weekday, wave timing, objective rules, squad sizes, costs, enemy behavior, and effective tactics remain unverified.

See the battle reference for configured encounter definitions and the named defensive structures it documents; that list is not a complete fighter or enemy roster. See zombie work for the tutorial’s worker and talent limits. The battle description is from the official combat development log dated September 18, 2026; it describes the announced format rather than confirming current gameplay.
