Qatal dagger build

Battle Brothers cover art

The Qatal Dagger is an Initiative-based Nimble, Dodge and Relentless build. Choose strong melee attack and useful Initiative; keep raising defense, health and fatigue. Nimble goals: about 15 combined body/helmet fatigue penalty, 90–100 HP after Colossus and 45–55 resolve. Community Initiative targets vary; none is mandatory.

Qatal Dagger

Wear light Nimble armor. Keep the off hand empty for Duelist, and carry a net in the bag if desired. Pair with an ally who can daze a target with a mace or net it, leaving this brother’s action points for dagger attacks. Early on, keep the recruit behind the line with a shield and ordinary dagger or spear until Nimble is learned and he can survive close combat; do not anchor a flank.

Wait for an ally to daze, stun or net a target, then use Deathblow while the status is still active. Its bonus applies against all three. Dagger Mastery reduces Deathblow from 4 to 3 AP; three attacks require a full 9-AP turn, the Qatal already in hand, and no movement or earlier action. Each mastered Deathblow costs 8 Fatigue, so three attacks use 24 before other actions. Nets can be broken, statuses expire, and some enemies are immune. Recover spends a full 9-AP turn to remove half accumulated Fatigue. If the first 3-AP Deathblow starts from 9 AP and kills, Berserk restores 4 AP up to the 9-AP cap, enough to Recover; movement or a later kill may leave too little. Duelist improves Qatal armor penetration, but its piercing damage is a poor match for Ancient Dead, which resist piercing.
