Enemy camps: defenders, defenses and loot

The faction camp-building scripts in the supplied 1.5.2.3 archive refer to 28 ordinary hostile location classes. This is a map of possible camps, not a list promised to appear in one campaign. The names below are readable labels for the script types; generated camp names and defenders vary. For fixed battles and rewards, use Legendary instead.
The “defenders” column identifies the camp’s spawn pool, not its exact garrison. The “defense” column is the camp script’s battle-map fortification; scouting, terrain and the current roster still matter. Loot examples describe location-specific rolls in addition to enemy equipment, not guaranteed drops. Enemy encounters explains the combatants and their possible equipment.
Brigands
Section titled “Brigands”| Camp type | Possible defenders | Battle-map defense |
|---|---|---|
| Hideout | Brigand defenders or marauders, depending on the campaign’s marauder roll | None |
| Camp | Brigand defenders or marauders | Palisade |
| Ruins | Brigand defenders or marauders | Walls and palisade |
A brigand camp can roll
crowns, repair supplies,
ammunition, food and valuables such as
furs or
silverware. The ordinary named-item roll also weights brigand shields for these three types; a named shield is possible, never promised. A ruined site has different cover from a simple hideout, even when the defender pool is similar.
Barbarians
Section titled “Barbarians”
| Camp type | Possible defenders | Battle-map defense |
|---|---|---|
| Shelter | Barbarian spawn pool | None |
| Camp | Barbarian spawn pool | None |
| Sanctuary | Barbarian spawn pool | None |
The three sites share a defender pool, but their scripts use different starting resources; do not read “no walls” as “easy.” Their location loot can include crowns, repair supplies, food and furs. The named-item roll can favor barbarian weapons, armor and helmets. The shelter picture is an example of this family; snow can change a site’s map sprite.
Goblins
Section titled “Goblins”
| Camp type | Possible defenders | Battle-map defense |
|---|---|---|
| Hideout | Goblin defenders | None |
| Camp | Goblin higher-tier pool, which can include a Shaman or Overseer | Palisade |
| Ruins | Goblin defenders | Walls |
| Outpost | Goblin higher-tier pool | Walls and palisade |
| Settlement | Goblin higher-tier pool | Walls |
Goblin sites can roll ammunition, food and valuables, including goblin-made trinkets; the outpost script can also put armor attachments in its treasure pool with Beasts & Exploration. A higher-tier pool does not mean every garrison has a Shaman. The unique Goblin City, Rul’gazhix, has its own fixed encounter and is not one of these five camp types.
Nomads
Section titled “Nomads”
| Camp type | Possible defenders | Battle-map defense |
|---|---|---|
| Tents | Nomad defenders | None |
| Hidden camp | Nomad defenders | None |
| Ruins | Nomad defenders | Walls |
| Tent city | Nomad defenders | None |
These Blazing Deserts camps can roll crowns, supplies, food and southern trade goods. A tent city can include
incense,
silk or
spices in its valuables pool; the named-item roll can favor southern shields. This table describes the script types, not a guarantee that every desert campaign generates all four.
| Camp type | Possible defenders | Battle-map defense |
|---|---|---|
| Hideout | Young Orcs only | None |
| Cave | Berserkers only | None |
| Camp | Orc defender pool | None |
| Ruins | Young Orcs and Berserkers | Walls |
| Settlement | Orc higher-tier pool | None |
An orc camp can roll repair supplies,
Strange Meat and trade valuables such as furs or copper; ordinary named-item rolls can favor orc weapons and shields. The settlement’s higher-tier pool is a different prospect from a young-orc hideout, despite both having no scripted fortification.
Undead
Section titled “Undead”
| Camp type | Possible defenders | Battle-map defense |
|---|---|---|
| Hideout | Zombies, with possible ghouls or ghosts | None |
| Graveyard | Zombies, ghouls or ghosts, by spawn-pool roll | Walls |
| Crypt | Zombies and ghosts, or a |
Walls |
| Necromancer’s lair | Necromancer group | None |
| Ruins | Zombie mix, necromancer group or Ancient Dead | Walls |
| Mass grave | Ancient Dead | None |
| Buried castle | Ancient Dead | Walls |
| Vampire coven | Walls |
Undead loot depends strongly on the site. A buried castle’s treasure pool includes silverware, gems,
ancient gold coins and an
ornate tome; a vampire coven can roll food and valuables. Mass graves, buried castles and vampire covens can favor undead named weapons or shields in the ordinary location roll. This does not turn them into the fixed-reward Black Monolith.
Decide whether to attack
Section titled “Decide whether to attack”Check the actual garrison, fortification and company readiness before entering. Walls or a palisade change the opening; a stronger spawn pool can matter even at an unfortified site. A camp’s named-item chance is rolled by the location script using its resources and distance from settlements, with at most two attempts; it is not a guaranteed reward for clearing a named type. For equipment possibilities, compare named items and the enemy roster. For settlements and house relations around the camp, return to the world map.
