Kraken at the Stone Pillars

The Stone Pillars are the start of the Kraken → Watermill reward chain. This is the cultist scene selected by the location’s game script; the Kraken itself has a separate battle sprite.
Unlock and entry choice
Section titled “Unlock and entry choice”Inspect the pillars, accept the request for
Unhold Hides, deliver those, then deliver
Shimmering Ashes. Each requested amount is the quantity in your inventory when that step is recorded plus three; arriving with only three may leave you short. The first conversation and hide hand-in each award a
Signet Ring. Both final dialogue choices start the Kraken battle. Repair equipment and arrange fatigue recovery before the last hand-in.
Survive the Kraken
Section titled “Survive the Kraken”
- Free the ensnared first. Tentacles grab and drag brothers toward the maw. Ending a turn beside the head can cause an instant death. Keep action points for escapes or helping allies before committing every fighter to damage. Tentacles have no zone of control, so a freed brother can reposition.
- Recognize the dangerous phase. At half head health or after six tentacle kills, tentacles begin biting hard as well as grabbing. Pull wounded brothers away and focus damage. Killing tentacles also damages the head, so reaching the maw is not the only route to victory.
- Break a stalled cycle. Prefer actions that leave enough action points to escape over repeated 6-AP attacks; Recover or other fatigue help can keep rescuers useful. A
Goblin Trophy bearer is immune to the grab, but the rest of the company still needs a rescue plan.
The enemy card lists the head’s scripted attacks and possible material drops. Those are separate from the location reward.
Reward and next stop
Section titled “Reward and next stop”Victory awards the
Sword Blade and advances the Watermill chain. The blade is an intermediate quest item, not the final sword. If the company is not ready for another fight, prepare before returning to the mill.
