Nimble two-handed flail build

Battle Brothers cover art

Use a two-handed flail as a high-fatigue single-target attacker against shielded foes or enemies with weak helmets. Pound has a 40% base head-hit chance; Flail Mastery raises its armor ignore on head hits to 60% (body hits have 40%). A head hit primes Head Hunter, which guarantees the head on the next hit. A miss does not consume the stored stack.

Two-handed Flail

Prioritize Melee Skill and Melee Defense, then Health and Resolve. As long-term goals, aim for 85+ Melee Skill, 30–35+ Melee Defense before gear and morale, about 90 Health after Colossus, and 50–60 Resolve. Pick a recruit whose Initiative still helps Dodge in light armor; accumulated Fatigue reduces Dodge’s defense. Equip light armor, a light helmet and a Two-Handed Flail. A practical burst target is 50+ usable Fatigue after armor and all weapon penalties, including carried weapons. Check famed-flail costs on its tooltip.

After level 7, use Pound on a priority enemy. It ignores the ordinary shield bonus but can still miss against the target’s other defenses. After a head hit, Head Hunter guarantees the head on your next hit; a miss preserves the stack. Mastered Pound costs 12 Fatigue and Thresh costs 27, so use Thresh only when several targets justify the cost. Berserk restores 4 AP once per turn after a kill. If you start adjacent, a killing Pound leaves enough AP for another 6-AP Pound; after moving first, it usually does not. The follow-up also needs another 12 Fatigue. After a burst, use Pathfinder to move and Pound once on ordinary terrain rather than planning to attack twice every turn. Battle Forged is an option only for a recruit with exceptional Fatigue and heavy armor near 300/300 body/helmet durability; this Nimble route keeps more Fatigue available for attacks.
