Fatigue-neutral two-handed hammer build

Battle Brothers cover art

Use this Battle Forged build to damage armor and stagger one target per turn. Smite is single-target; Shatter hits up to three adjacent foes in a frontal arc, but costs 23 Fatigue with mastery.

Two-Handed Hammer Polehammer

Prioritize Melee Skill and Melee Defense, then Health and Resolve. Long-term goals: 85+ Melee Skill, 30–35+ Melee Defense before gear and morale, about 90 Health after Colossus, and 50–60 Resolve. Equip heavy armor near 300/300 body/helmet durability, a Two-Handed Hammer and a pocket Polehammer; both use Hammer Mastery. “Usable Fatigue” means the pool left after armor and all weapon penalties, including pocket weapons; keep 25–30 as a buffer. Repeated Shatter needs more.

At level 8, Hammer Mastery and Pathfinder let you move once and Smite for 12 Fatigue, usually spending 2–3 on movement against 15 recovered. Slopes, Swamps, injuries and emergencies can cost more. Keep 25–30 usable Fatigue as a buffer; repeated Shatter needs more.

Before Battle Forged, keep him behind the frontline. After level 8, move once and use Smite; at level 9, Quick Hands adds the Polehammer for safer two-tile attacks. Shatter hits up to three adjacent foes in its arc; spend 23 Fatigue only when the current pool permits a burst. A flank build that repeats Shatter can gain defense from Reach Advantage, but needs much more Fatigue and a different perk schedule. This neutral build trades area damage for steady movement and reach. Its main weakness is lower damage against unarmored targets than an axe.
