Crossbow and throwing hybrid

Battle Brothers cover artwork

Choose this hybrid for a loaded crossbow opening shot, then stronger close-range throwing damage as enemies approach. Favor high RSK, enough Hitpoints to reach roughly 80–90 after Colossus, and Fatigue for repeated attacks. Stars are useful, not required. A combined body-and-helmet Fatigue penalty around 15 is a reasonable Nimble armor target, not a strict cutoff.

Heavy Crossbow Bundle of Heavy Javelins

Start with a loaded Heavy Crossbow and bolt quiver. Put two throwing stacks in the backpack, or one stack and a dagger if you want a safer emergency option; bags have limited space before Bags and Belts. Wear light armor and a vision-preserving helmet. Improve RSK first, then useful Hitpoints and Fatigue.

Open with the loaded crossbow against an exposed target, then use throwing weapons at two tiles when enemies close. Quick Hands makes one item swap free once per turn; it does not make every swap free. Crossbow & Firearms Mastery reduces fatigue and improves crossbow armor penetration. Throwing Mastery strengthens attacks at two and three tiles, and Duelist works with one-handed throwing weapons when the off hand is empty. Heavy javelins are strong against armored living enemies; axes are useful against Ancient Dead, who resist piercing damage. Avoid spending a turn moving if that leaves no worthwhile shot.

Fearsome only pressures morale on susceptible enemies; Ancient Dead are immune and some high-Resolve beasts resist it. This split build gives up some range and perk space compared with specialists. Choose a bow sniper for reach or a thrower for focused damage. Compare the weapon-build index, then check the weapon reference and combat guide for skills and turn rules.
