Handgonne gunner

Battle Brothers cover artwork

A Handgonne gunner softens groups with Overwhelm and Fearsome. Recruit for high RSK and Initiative, roughly 80–90 Hitpoints after Colossus, and enough Fatigue and Resolve for light armor and Fearsome. Overwhelm applies on a miss but only to targets who act later. A combined body-and-helmet Fatigue penalty around 15 is a useful Nimble target, not a rule.

Handgonne

Carry a loaded Handgonne, a second Handgonne in the backpack, powder, light armor and a vision-preserving helmet. The second gun starts unloaded in the bag.

Start with loaded gun A in hand. Before contact in round 1, use Quick Hands to switch to gun B and reload it; mastery reduces that reload to 6 AP. On a chosen volley turn, fire B for 3 AP, switch to loaded A with Quick Hands, then fire A for 3 AP. Both guns are then empty. On a later stationary turn, one gun can reload for 6 AP and fire for 3 AP; alternate guns as needed. Movement changes this rhythm, and you cannot repeat the two-shot volley every round.

Fearsome cannot shake Undead morale and may do little against very high-Resolve enemies. Berserk returns 4 AP once per turn after a kill, which can fund a reload or reposition. Killing Frenzy boosts subsequent damage after a kill. Extra actions still need a target and enough Fatigue. If you are building for control without kill opportunities, use Pathfinder or Footwork instead. A Handgonne’s broad line attack is less precise than a crossbow shot at one target, and reloading competes with movement. Choose a crossbow hybrid for focused armored-target attacks or a thrower for concentrated damage. Compare the weapon-build index, then check the weapon reference and combat guide for skills and turn rules.
