Sling control support

Battle Brothers cover artwork

Slings are ammo-free, niche control picks, not damage upgrades. Staff Sling is the lower-damage base-game option; Nomad Sling requires Blazing Deserts. Both are two-handed, so Duelist does not apply. A one-star recruit with low starting RSK can fill this role if you develop RSK toward roughly 65–75 and add Initiative and Fatigue or Resolve. That is a niche example, not a recruiting cutoff. After Colossus, aim for roughly 80–90 Hitpoints and a combined body-and-helmet Fatigue penalty around 15 for Nimble.

Staff Sling Nomad Sling

Carry a Staff Sling early or a Nomad Sling when available; both list 2–6 range. Sling Stone costs 4 AP and 15 base Fatigue. Aim at exposed targets. A Head Hunter stack can set up a head-targeted Sling Stone; a hit may daze a susceptible enemy.

For a protected recruit, take Student at 2, Fast Adaptation at 3 and Colossus at 4, delaying Colossus. Keep levels 5–10 as above; at 11, spend the normal and returned points. See Student and Gifted.

This build takes Throwing Mastery for Sling Stone fatigue savings; it does not depend on a close-range damage bonus. Overwhelm applies on a miss but only if you act before the target. Use Head Hunter to set up a headshot and daze when the target is susceptible; Fearsome cannot break Undead morale and may be weak against high-Resolve enemies. Keep the slinger behind the line; change targets when armor blunts the stones.

The limitation is inconsistent, low damage, especially into armor. Choose a thrower for focused damage or a gunner for broader area pressure. Compare the weapon-build index, then check the weapon reference and combat guide for skills and turn rules.
