Play a cassette and build a collection

  1. Buy and take ownership of the cassette before putting it in the player: the deck accepts owned cassette items, not a seller’s unpurchased stock.
  2. Insert it, then use play, previous, next and volume controls.
  3. Playback reads the track stored on the tape.
  4. Pristine, damaged and corrupted recordings are separate variants; playing a poor recording does not establish a repair or restore a pristine copy.
  5. The values below are base reference prices, not guaranteed offers.

Tapehead and degraded finds

Tapehead fills the starting player from seven named pristine tapes, skipping those already inside. It does not grant every registered variant. The degraded-cassette helper chooses among 14 corrupted recordings and prefers identifiers absent from the player; it can repeat once that pool is exhausted. Scavenging and Jackson’s stock can call that helper, so treat those as possible finds or offers, not guaranteed deliveries. A damaged tape’s appearance alone does not prove a repair route; a verified restoration recipe remains undocumented here.

Recognize the fourteen corrupted tracks

These are the fourteen corrupted cassette variants in the degraded-cassette pool. Jackson, scavenging and the documented locker pools provide conditional acquisition paths. A locker roll favors tracks missing from your cassette player, then falls back to the full pool if none are missing; a particular track is never guaranteed. The artwork below identifies the exact variant. Owning a corrupted cassette does not establish that it can be repaired.
