The Butcher: arrest and retaliation

The Butcher: arrest and retaliation

An arrest is not the last scene

Story spoilers. The Butcher appears as a Lower Level Citizen and has a 450-credit bounty. Without captured status, a later return can be scheduled every seven days after the recorded first meeting. Reporting records the arrest and stops that return check, but it also starts a separate delayed vandalism sequence. Do not assume the bounty removes every consequence. Identify him by the wanted portrait before reporting; a generic citizen title alone is not proof.

Use the note, then arrange help

After the vandalism stage, a later counter delivery leaves a Meat Cleaver and threat note. The note warns you to arm yourself; it is not a new anonymous marketplace request that you must fill. Sawyer’s help can become eligible from the next day after the recorded cleaver delivery, while the hunt is active and his offer has not already played. Listen to that offer, then check Joe Wild’s services for Butcher Hunting. Its base fee is 500 credits; confirm the displayed quote and activate the service rather than merely reading Sawyer’s dialogue.

Confirm completion in the night log

When the hunting service is active, the night resolution marks the hunt over, turns the service off and removes its unlock, then writes the crew’s completion message. Use that log as the completion checkpoint. This service outcome is separate from collecting the original wanted bounty. No additional item reward is confirmed for this service, and the shop’s ordinary faction-vandalism checks still exist independently.
